Monkepub ("we", "our", or "the app") is an EPUB reader for iOS. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your identity provider. We use this solely to identify your account and enable cross-device sync.
Reading data. We store your book library metadata (titles, authors, reading progress), reading statistics (daily reading time), and app preferences (theme, font). This data is synced to Google Firebase Firestore so you can access it across your devices.
EPUB files. The EPUB files you upload are stored only on your device in local storage. We do not upload, transfer, or have access to your book files.
Purchase information. If you purchase the "Remove Ads" option, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We only store whether ads have been removed; we do not have access to your payment details.
Firebase (Google). We use Firebase Authentication for sign-in and Firestore for cloud sync. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy
AdMob (Google). We display banner ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings. You can remove ads entirely with a one-time in-app purchase.
Apple Sign In. If you sign in with Apple, Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/privacy
Your synced data is stored in Firebase Firestore, hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections. EPUB files remain on-device only and are never transmitted to our servers.
We retain your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen in the app. Upon account deletion, all cloud data (library, reading stats, preferences) is permanently removed.
Monkepub is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
